Résumé en anglais :

Healthy aging is a developmental process aimed at maintaining functional ability through the interaction between an individual’s intrinsic capacities and their environment, a progression heavily influenced by psychological determinants such as self-perception, subjective age, and the internalization of age-related stereotypes. By integrating theoretical frameworks such as the OCEAN model which highlights the predictive power of conscientiousness and extraversion for physical engagement and Self-Determination Theory (SDT), which emphasizes autonomous motivation as a cornerstone of sustainable well-being, scientific research underscores the profound impact of mental processes on biological health. Specifically, Klusman’s study demonstrates that physical exercise enhances age-related satisfaction through the mediation of immediate pleasure, while Würm’s research reveals that positive aging representations can increase longevity by 7.5 years via physiological and behavioral pathways, as well as the self-fulfilling prophecy effect. Consequently, these findings transform theoretical hypotheses into concrete intervention strategies where pleasure and positive identity formation serve as the primary pillars for fostering prolonged, active lifestyles among seniors.
